Women's Ordination Constitutional Amendment Fails

A constitutional amendment to permit women's ordination was rejected at the recent assembly. The Women's Ministry Committee reported that 140 of 165 presbyteries conducted the required votes. Although 8,318 votes were cast, the proposal failed to secure the necessary two-thirds majority of 5,546 valid votes across all sixteen clauses.

The committee requested a three-year term for its standing members to pursue long-term policy goals. Assembly delegates decided to merge this request with motions to invalidate the amendment and dissolve the committee, routing all items to the political department for final processing.
