A virtual Missiology Seminar will be held next week to support the Brazilian Church's preparation for the National Missionary Year and the 7th American Missionary Congress (CAM7). The event is organized by the Missionary Cultural Center (CCM) in partnership with the Episcopal Commission for Missionary Action and Interecclesial Cooperation of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB), the Conference of Religious of Brazil (CRB), and the Pontifical Missionary Works (POM).

The seminar will take place on October 20 and 21, 2026, with live streaming. Its theme is "America on the Move: A People of God Proclaiming and Witnessing Jesus Christ!" and its motto is "Churches of America, on Mission at the Frontiers." The guiding biblical text is "As the Father has sent me, so I send you" (John 20:21).

The seminar aims to engage missiologists across Brazil in the preparatory process for the National Missionary Year and CAM7, aligning them with the missionary journey of the Churches of the Americas. The National Missionary Year was established by Brazilian bishops as a key step toward preparing the Church in Brazil for CAM7. It will run from November 26, 2028, to November 18, 2029, and is expected to include both celebratory moments of missionary life and deeper reflection on the Church's missionary responsibility.

The program for October 20 includes a presentation of the CAM7 project, updates on the preparation process, a theological reflection on the contributions of the theology of the Missio Dei, and participant discussions. On October 21, there will be an overview of the National Missionary Year, further updates on the preparation process, a reflection on poverty, frontiers, and prophetic presence, and additional participant engagement.

The event is part of a broader effort to mobilize the Church in Brazil for its missionary role in the Americas and to foster collaboration among various ecclesial organizations.
