# Vatican Announces Pope Leo's Apostolic Journey to Latin America

The Vatican Press Office has presented the schedule for Pope Leo's upcoming apostolic journey to Latin America, where the Pope will visit three countries over twelve days.

The itinerary includes visits to ten cities and approximately a dozen flights. During the trip, Pope Leo is expected to deliver about 40 speeches in the Spanish language, offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, meet with local church communities, and address civil authorities. He will also meet with victims of sexual abuse committed by priests.

Pope Leo will begin the journey in Uruguay from November 6 to 8, visiting Montevideo, Paysandú, and Florida. This marks the first papal visit to Uruguay since Saint John Paul II visited in 1988. The motto for this leg is "I bring you great news of joy."

From November 8 to 11, the Pope will travel to Argentina, visiting Buenos Aires, Córdoba, and Luján. This visit occurs nearly four decades after the 1987 visit of Saint John Paul II and is noted as being significant because Argentina is the birthplace of the late Pope Francis. The motto for this portion of the trip is "Everyone is welcome. Go and preach."

The final leg of the journey will be in Peru from November 11 to 17, with visits to Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa. The motto for this stage is "Let us open our hearts." Pope Leo previously served as a missionary and priest in Peru for several years, and he is expected to meet with members of Augustinian communities in Peru and Argentina.

According to the Vatican, the journey focuses on messages of participation, unity, and a universal call to holiness. The itinerary was developed in coordination with relevant episcopal conferences and at the request of governments.
