# Primada Exhibition at Toledo Cathedral Concludes with 56,000 Visitors

The exhibition titled Primada, which marked the eighth centenary of the Toledo Cathedral, has ended after being open for 139 days. The event attracted 56,000 visitors between May 26 and October 14.

As part of the exhibition, 116 pieces were restored. These interventions included more than 50 reliquaries, 17 paintings from the chapel and antechapel of the Virgin del Sagrario, and 19 oils on copper from the Camarín of the Virgin del Sagrario.

The display featured 330 pieces from various eras, techniques, and origins. Approximately 85 percent of these items belonged to the Toledo Cathedral, while the remainder were loans from 31 institutions and collections, including the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Galería de los Uffizi, and the Museo de Salzburgo. The exhibition showcased works by artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Zurbarán, Juan de Borgoña, and Enrique de Arfe. About half of the selected pieces had not previously been part of any other exhibition.

The event spanned more than 2,000 square meters and included areas not typically open to ordinary visitors. A reference catalog was produced as a scientific legacy, consisting of two volumes and 1,568 pages. This publication involved 104 professors, researchers, and specialists from universities, museums, and research centers both in Spain and abroad.

The conclusion of the exhibition coincided with the start of the first Jubilee Year in the history of the cathedral, which began with the opening of the Holy Door. During the catalog presentation, the archbishop of Toledo stated that the eighth centenary provides a privileged occasion to give thanks and to consider the kind of church and cathedral to offer future generations as a space of hope, freedom, and love.

Additionally, the government of Castilla-La Mancha is considering the organization of a cycle of musical events in various cathedrals to commemorate Holy Week, with the Toledo Cathedral as the final destination.
