# Prayer for Peace in Vatican Gardens

A prayer initiative has been held for over twenty years by the Papal Foundation ‘Aid to the Church in Need’. The foundation's message emphasizes that the meeting in October, traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, holds special significance as millions suffer from wars, violence, persecution, poverty, and uncertainty today. The prayer gathering in the Vatican echoes the message of Fatima: ‘In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.’ The week of prayer will last until the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Dioceses, parishes, schools, communities, and families across different continents will be able to choose their day for prayer, remaining united in prayer for peace and unity. Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Papal Foundation ‘Aid to the Church in Need’ and prefect of the Department for Promoting Christian Unity, invited everyone to join the prayer campaign, recalling the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a model of life fully open to the Holy Spirit. The Virgin Mary is an example of faith, love, and prayer.

The initiative ‘One Million Children Praying the Rosary’ originated in Venezuela in 2005 and has since grown into a global prayer movement. This year, prayer meetings are planned in Bolivia, Paraguay, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and other places marked by war and poverty. It is accompanied by words associated with St. Pio Pietrelcina: ‘When a million children pray the Rosary, the world will change.’
