# Pope resumes activities after surgery

Pope Leo XIV has successfully completed his second night after lung surgery at Rome's Gemelli Hospital. The Vatican Press Office reported on the morning of October 15 that the Pope's condition is stable. "The Pope had a smooth night in the hospital. He woke up and had breakfast," the statement read. On October 14, the day following his surgery, he underwent blood tests and a chest X-ray, which indicated a positive recovery.

In the afternoon of October 15, Dr. Luigi Carboni and Professor Stefano Margalitri informed the press about the Pope's recovery, stating, "This morning, His Holiness received a regular check-up. The results were within normal ranges, and no abnormalities were found. The chest X-ray confirmed that the recovery of the operated lung is good." They added, "His Holiness is performing daily activities independently. Physiotherapy involved full-body exercises.

Overall, the Pope's post-surgery recovery is progressing smoothly." Additionally, according to the Vatican Press Office, the Pope celebrated Mass in a specially prepared room on the 10th floor of the Gemelli Hospital, just as he did the previous afternoon. Pope Leo XIV has resumed his work activities and met with Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, the Secretary of State, on the afternoon of the 15th.
