# Pope Leo XIV prays in Lourdes grotto for France and world peace

Pope Leo XIV offered a silent prayer before the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes at the grotto of Massabielle in the French city of Lourdes, during his pastoral visit to France. In a deeply spiritual moment marked by reverence and hope, the Pope placed France and its people before the Virgin Mary, invoking her intercession for peace throughout the world. He asked that violence and conflict recede, and that the cries of the poor, the sick, and the suffering be heard.

The Pope also prayed for families and young people, that faith may be renewed in hearts and the light of the Gospel remain present among new generations. He called on the faithful to build a harmonious society that rejects all violence and hatred, and that allows every person to work, raise a family, and live in dignity and peace. The Pope entrusted especially the most vulnerable and the poor to ongoing support, and asked for wise and generous leaders in France who are ready to serve the common good.

He prayed that France may be preserved in peace within the family of nations, and that its voice may be raised in defense of basic human rights and for peace in the world, rejecting the logic of war. The Pope concluded his prayer by commending to the Virgin Mary all the faithful, both living and departed, asking her to remove every obstacle that separates humanity from her Son, and to let Christ reign in every heart.
