# Pope Leo XIV expresses gratitude for support after surgery

On Sunday, Pope Leo XIV expressed gratitude towards those who have prayed for him in recent days following the Angelus prayer at Vatican City. He stated, "I have truly felt your support, thank you." He specifically thanked the doctors, nurses, and all staff at Gemelli Polyclinic, where he underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove a small nodule from his right lung. The Pope remarked, "This experience has made me feel closer to all those who live in sickness or weakness."

Pope Leo XIV was discharged from the hospital on Saturday afternoon, after tests including a blood check and chest X-ray confirmed he was fit to leave. Before exiting the hospital, he personally thanked the surgeons, medical and nursing staff, caregivers, the rector of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, and hospital managers.

At the conclusion of the Angelus prayer, the Pope addressed everyone, saying, "Now that this delicate phase has passed, as you know, I will gradually resume my activities, with God's help and your prayers always by my side." Prior to the surgery, the coordinator overseeing the Pope's schedule announced that all his meetings would be postponed until Tuesday, October 20.
