# Pope Leo XIV discharged from hospital

Pope Leo XIV has been discharged from the hospital after a surgical procedure. The Holy See press office announced the decision on the morning of Saturday, October 17, following a clinical evaluation. The Pope left the medical facility in the early afternoon and returned to the Vatican.

He is scheduled to lead the Angelus prayer from the window of the papal residence over St. Peter's Square on Sunday, October 18. Doctors assessed the Pope as ready for discharge based on blood tests and a chest X-ray performed that morning. He had been admitted to the hospital for an operation on his right lung.

Upon his departure, the Pope thanked the medical team, including the surgeon and the nursing staff. He also greeted the hospital rector and the university hospital administration.
