# Pope cancels visit to Assisi

To ensure recovery after chest surgery he underwent last Tuesday, according to doctors' recommendations, Pope Leon XIV will not be able to travel to Assisi on October 27, as originally planned, for the meeting "Disarmed Peace and Disarming," organized for the 40th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace, announced by Saint John Paul II.

Pope Leon will convey his message of solidarity to the organizers, leaders, and representatives of Christian denominations and other religions, as well as to the guests present at this meeting, believing that the "spirit of Assisi," dialogue, and the search for words and gestures of peace are valuable resources in an era of conflict.
