# Over 1,650 Burmese children celebrate World Mission Day

Approximately 1,650 children from Burma celebrated on October 18 the 100th anniversary of World Mission Day, commemorated by the universal Church, as reported. The cardinal explained to the children that they too can be missionaries from a young age by sharing their love for Jesus. They gathered on Sunday at the Catholic Church of the Assumption in the parish of Twantay, within the archdiocese, for an event organized by the Pontifical Mission Societies of the archdiocese and its director. The cardinal explained that everyone can be a missionary, regardless of where they live, study, or meet others.

He told them that they do not need to wait to become a priest, nun, bishop, or adult to be missionaries, but that they "can be missionaries starting today!" The cardinal encouraged the children to become little lights of Christ. He explained how to achieve this, emphasizing that small acts of kindness matter, such as welcoming and being kind to classmates and children who might feel lonely or excluded, sharing food with those in need, and offering their help. The children, he suggested, can be missionaries at home, at school, in their parish, and within their community.

He invited them to think about children affected by various difficulties, including conflicts, forced displacement, and hunger, in Burma and around the world. Finally, the cardinal reminded the youngest that they do not need to be famous or accomplish particularly exceptional things, but that what matters is to share the light of Jesus and bring the love of God to others.
