# Messianic Jews and Christians seek restoration of the church in Jerusalem

Three hundred Jesus followers from fifty countries, Jews and non-Jews, came together this week in Jerusalem. There are twelve Dutch participants, including Baptist Henk Bakker. ‘The questions of the first centuries of church history are back on our plate.’

Henk Bakker, 66, a professor at the Vrije Universiteit, shared that just half a day before their departure, he was still on the Temple Mount. He noted that you could see more soldiers arriving.

The gathering focused on the theme of restoration, with a significant emphasis on the historical roots of the church. Participants engaged in discussions about the challenges faced by the church today, drawing parallels with the early church's experiences. The phrase ‘The root bears you’ was highlighted as a reminder of the connection between the church and its foundational history.

The event aimed to foster unity among diverse groups and to address the pressing issues that Christians and Jews face in contemporary society. Discussions included how to navigate faith and culture in today’s world, as well as the importance of collaboration in the pursuit of shared goals.
