# Ethiopian Orthodox celebrate 'the Feast of the Cross' with a three meter high fire in a Brabant village

Ethiopian Orthodox Christians gathered to celebrate 'the Feast of the Cross' in a village in Brabant, featuring a three meter high fire. Although the celebration was scheduled to begin earlier, many attendees were delayed. Approximately half of the 250 participants had not yet arrived as preparations continued.

In the meantime, a stack of wood was ready on a grass field in Veldhoven to be ignited later in the festivities. Nearby, women in the Roman Catholic Sint-Ceciliakerk were busy preparing injera, a pancake-like bread that is typically served with colorful stews.
