Church Planting Efforts Continue in Sikhao Region
Recent weather conditions in southern Thailand have caused concerns over flooding, yet the community remains grateful for divine support during these trying times. Local partners are encouraged to continue their work in advancing the kingdom of God.
Since July, a vacant and dilapidated building has been rented for church planting in the Sikhao area. After preparing the building with local workers during August, the first Sunday service was held on September 6. This marks a significant milestone as local ministers and missionaries unite to hold worship in an area previously without a church. While the initial attendance was modest, there is hope that the gospel will spread through this outreach, leading many to worship God.
Gratitude is expressed for the contributions made by visitors from Chiang Mai and local church members, who provided much-needed supplies for the Sikhao church. Although there are still essential items required such as a pulpit, communion set, acoustic guitar, laptop, and kitchen utensils, there is faith that these needs will be met.
The team continues to visit local churches weekly, preaching and teaching the Bible. Despite challenging conditions, they pray for strength and faith among the congregations. Notably, Naong Church, established after the COVID-19 pandemic, is led by dedicated local ministers. They are currently renting a church building while envisioning future growth and a permanent structure, and they seek prayer for the fulfillment of God’s purpose at the appropriate time.
Evangelistic efforts are also underway, with outreach activities occurring in front of the Sikhao church, including distributing refreshments and evangelistic materials. Regular visits to the local market on Thursday afternoons help raise awareness of the church. Prayer is requested for boldness in sharing the gospel with those who are lost in Sikhao. Additionally, ministry to the next generation is being conducted at Ban Bohin Elementary School, where the gospel is being shared with teachers and students. There is hope that this initiative will bear fruit as the seeds of the gospel take root in their hearts.
Gratitude is extended to all supporters who have partnered in spreading the life-giving message of the gospel, and prayers are offered for abundant blessings upon them all.
