# Christian groups force relocation of Vox-linked conference from Jerez diocese

A conference scheduled for Wednesday in Jerez de la Frontera was moved from the diocesan headquarters to the offices of the Catholic Association of Propagandists after protests from local Christian groups. The event, featuring Rubén Pulido, was originally set to take place in the Auditorio Juan Pablo II, which is located within the premises of the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez. The relocation occurred following a wave of email protests from dozens of Christian collectives who objected to the presence of the speaker in the diocesan seat. The speakers, who identified themselves as baptized believers and full members of the church, described the planned event as xenophobic and part of a pre-campaign for the political party Vox.

They argued that the diocese is the seat of the diocese and not the private residence of the bishop, making the venue inappropriate for such a gathering. The protesters also criticized the organizing body, the Catholic Association of Propagandists, for what they called an ideological fascination with the far right. They noted that the association, which calls itself Catholic, ignores the universal meaning of the word and the equal dignity of all human beings. The speaker, Rubén Pulido, is a former head of communications for Vox in Andalusia and the number two figure for the party in Seville. He now presents himself as a political analyst and expert on immigration. Pulido served in the armed forces for more than ten years and was awarded a medal for merit and sacrifice.

He has been accused multiple times of xenophobic hate crimes under Article 510 of the Penal Code. The protesters pointed out that Pulido views immigration as an Islamist invasion and links it to Islamic terrorism. The conference, titled "Immigration: The Greatest Challenge of the 21st Century," is scheduled for 8:00 PM at the association's headquarters in Jerez. Pulido, who was born in Jerez in 1985, stated on social media that he would address the challenges of immigration in a lecture organized by the association. The diocese did not issue a public statement regarding the specific reasons for the venue change, but the move was confirmed after the protests.
