Pediatric Surgeon: Speak Up for Unborn Children, They “Bear The Ultimate Consequence for Being Aborted”

The call came during my daily rounds in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit. “Hi, this is Dr. Pierce, and I am calling to welcome you to the pediatric surgery training program at Texas Children’s Hospital.”  My dream was now a reality.  I would spend my life healing babies and children.  I would be in the business of ‘saving lifetimes.’  I had been given an amazing opportunity, but also the responsibility of caring not only for the patient but for the family – we learn early that “instead of
