Church Attendance Is Rising — But Showing Up Is Only the Beginning

Gen Z is going to church more than any other generation in America right now. According to Barna’s State of the Church research, the typical Gen Z churchgoer attends 1.9 weekends a month — nearly double the rate from five years ago, and higher than Millennials, Gen X or Boomers. Barna has also tracked a 12 percent increase since 2021 in adults who say they’ve made a personal commitment to Jesus that still matters to them today. Pastors are reporting more first-time guests.
